This is a general time-frame of the project:

  • Conception phase – 3 weeks (12.11.2019 – 1.12.2019) – 3 deadlines (on Sundays)

In this phase you will develop the concept idea that will guide you in exploring a sonic identity for the piece. You will write text and support it with audiovisual material.

  • Incubation phase – 4 weeks (1.12.2019 – 29.12.2019) – 5 deadlines

In this phase you will compose small fragments of music (5 – 20 seconds) which will relate to the formulated concept of the previous period. The goal is to create a pool of interrelated musical ideas which you can utilize for the subsequent phases.

  • Development phase 1 - 6 weeks (30.12.2019 – 9.2.2020) – 12 deadlines

This phase will have 2 deadlines per week. One deadline (Sundays) will be for submitting composed phrases (scores) and the other deadline (Thursdays) will be for commenting on the meso- and macro-structure of the composition. In this phase you will compose the basic corpus of the composition by following the “branch creation and selection” model. This phase will achieve a draft of the first half of the composition.

  • Revision phase 1 – 2 weeks (10.2.2020 – 23.2.2020) – 5 deadlines

During this phase you will revise the half of the composition, achieved in the previous phase. One composer will become the reviser who will propose concrete changes throughout the draft score, while the rest composers will be the reviewers who will vote for each change. This process will iterate until all composers become the reviser.

  • Development phase 2 - 6 weeks (24.2.2020 – 5.4.2020) – 12 deadlines

In this phase you will continue the composition by following the same process of development phase 1 and complete the composition.

  • Revision phase 2 – 3 weeks (6.4.2020 – 26.4.2020) – 5 deadlines

During this phase you will revise the whole composition and finalize it by following the same process as revision phase 1.

A small notice: these are the "hard" deadlines, which means the deadlines in which you will have to submit creative content. There will be additional "soft" deadlines (double amount except in the revision phases) where you will have to review and evaluate the submitted material of your fellow composers.
